With Liz Guertin.

Sponsored by the Maryland Photography Alliance.

Rescheduled from the original March 23 date.

**********************

This workshop is for photographers who have never really explored the capabilities of their DSLR or mirrorless camera, and who mostly use Auto or Program Mode when taking photos.

What You’ll Learn

  • An overview of your camera, with suggestions for settings you may not know about, DSLR vs. Mirrorless, RAW vs. JPEG, and recommended internet sites for learning more.

  • How to use the different camera shooting modes, from Program mode to Manual mode.

  • The exposure triangle: aperture, shutter, and ISO.

  • Metering and white balance.

  • How to setup and use autofocus, including back button focus.

  • When to use manual focus.

  • An introduction to good composition

  • And more!

Learn, Shoot, Review, and Repeat

This workshop combines classroom instruction with field shooting. You’ll learn, then immediately practice what you’ve learned. This will be repeated throughout the length of the workshop. We want you to immediately practice what you’ve just learned so that you don’t forget it.

The workshop takes place at the Riverside Lodge on Hoopers Island, which is surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay and the Honga River, and is just a short walk to a marina, a historic church, a seafood processing plant, and more. Once you’ve parked at the Lodge, you won’t need your car again until the workshop is over.
